Jeff Garlin will return to the small screen after the misconduct allegations against him, resulting in his The Goldbergs exit. This time, the veteran comedic actor will be seen in Never Have I Ever Season 4.

Garlin played the role of the short-tempered patriarch of the eponymous family in The Goldbergs for nine seasons. However, after an HR investigation, he was killed off in the 10th season to explain his exit. Now, he will mark his big return in Never Have I Ever Season 4.

The Curb Your Enthusiasm star joined the last and final season of Netflix’s coming-of-age series.

He will play the role of a cordial man named Len, who can make a mean sandwich and eventually develops a relationship with Mohan’s (Sendhil Ramamurthy) mother, Nirmala (Ranjita Chakravarty).

This will be the first time Garlin will play a new role on TV following his much-publicized departure from The Goldbergs.

Jeff Garlin’s The Goldbergs Controversy

Reports about Garlin’s misbehavior on the set of The Goldbergs started as early as 2019. Allegedly, he made the crew uncomfortable with his words, comments, and unwanted physical contact.

Citing some examples from ScreenRant, a camera assistant once complained about his excessive use of the word “vagina,” and his response was putting his hands around her while repeating the same comment.

He would also call female crew members offensive nicknames. He even allegedly criticized beloved stand-ins.

These claims were reportedly why Garlin was fired from the show, though he already cleared it wasn’t true and that his exit from the series was a mutual decision.

Jeff Garlin Addresses Rumors about The Goldbergs Exit

In an interview with Variety in December 2021, Garlin stressed that he wasn’t and had not been fired from The Goldbergs.

“I have my process about how I’m funny, in terms of the scene and what I have to do. They feel that it makes for a quote ‘unsafe’ workspace,” he explained.

“Now, mind you, my silliness making an unsafe workspace—I don’t understand how that is. And I’m on a comedy show,” he continued. “I am always a kind and thoughtful person. I make mistakes, sure. But my comedy is about easing people’s pain. Why would I ever want to cause pain in anybody for a laugh? That’s bullying. That’s just uncalled for.”

He also cleared that no physical incidents happened on the series’ set.

“Nothing physical by any stretch of the imagination. And the verbal part was a joke that was completely missed—because I like this guy. I like his wife. I’ve worked with them for years,” he stated. “How I suddenly wake up one day and I don’t like them—I don’t get that. I will say the joke was missed and I apologize to him. If someone misses a joke, that’s unfortunate to me. I don’t like it.”
