Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista Will Begin Filming Their Lethal Weapon-Type Movie Next Year [Report]

Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista's buddy cop movie is happening. The two celebrities have starred in several projects in the past, and Bautista gave an update about their upcoming comedy movie.

Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista Shooting Comedy-Action Movie Next Year

In 2021, Bautista manifested on Twitter a Lethal Weapon-type project with the Aquaman star. Later that year, Deadline reported that the project was scripted by Jonathan Trooper and was brought by MGM following a competitive bidding war. However, a director has not been announced yet.

Bautista gave an update about the anticipated project. According to him, filming will start next year.

"My schedule is kind of filling in, and I think he's got 'Minecraft,' which is going to go this year and take up most of the year," Bautista told Insider.

"So now we are looking at early 2024. But we have a great script. MGM is still dedicated to doing this film. Me and Jason together, I think it's going to be a hit."

Momoa previously teased on The Late Late Show with James Corden that he wanted to film their film in Hawaii.

"Dave loves wearing Speedos, I love wearing board shorts, and both of us with our shirts off [in a] buddy cop film, he'll be grumpy and I'll be charming. Boom. It sells itself, bro," he said.

What Did Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa Say About Working Together

David Bautista and Jason Momoa starred in See and Dune. It's undeniable that both enjoyed working together.

The former wrestler manifested a buddy cop movie with Momoa in a tweet in 2021.

"Just going to throw this out into the atmosphere and see what happens. Here we go… Me and Momoa in a Lethal Weapon type buddy cop movie directed by David Leitch. Ok! There it is. Now we wait," he wrote.

Meanwhile, the Justice League star had nothing but praises for Bautista.

"I adore the guy," he told Entertainment Weekly of Bautista.

"He's just such an amazing human being and a phenomenal actor. I love being around his energy, and I feel like he feels the same about me."
