Almost gone were the days of seeing back to back sequels, but it seems that bogeyman Michael Myers has righted that wrong. Halloween Ends is the third and final chapter in David Gordon Green's new Halloween Trilogy, which ignores every single Halloween sequel since John Carpenter's 1978 classic. As such, that film is the only one that's canon.

Halloween (2018) reunited us with Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) 40 years after that fateful night in Haddonfield, to find her suffering from PTSD. But Michael Myers escaped Smith's Grove Sanitarium once again.

Halloween Kills picked up immediately after the 2018 film, with Haddonfield plunged into a state of chaos as a mob set out to hunt Michael. But things didn't end well for the residents, as Michael emerged victorious.

Director David Gordon Green has since confirmed that Halloween Ends will take place four years after the events of its two predecessors, to bring it into a contemporary setting. But what will Halloween Ends be about?

Well, not much is known about the plot, but we do know that Green has admittedly taken inspiration from Stephen King's Christine (1983), the horror film about a killer car which was also directed by John Carpenter.

Carpenter himself has also praised the film, but describes it as being "very far removed" from his 1978 classic. Green has also added that it will be very different to his two previous Halloween movies.

And now we're about to learn a whole lot more about the upcoming Halloween movie, as Jamie Lee Curtis has made a major announcement via Twitter. On Wednesday, she posted a jack-o-lantern emoji and the date "7/20."

Jamie Lee Curtis presented on stage an exclusive teaser for Halloween Ends at CinemaCon back in April. And now, she's presenting the commercial teaser, so save the date, because on July 20, we'll get our first look at the new movie.

While the film will be the last in David Gordon Green's series, this doesn't mean the end for the Halloween franchise. Producer Jason Blum recently confirmed that it will only be the last Halloween movie with Blumhouse, while John Carpenter said that if there's money to be made, then more movies will happen.
