The DC Universe's first chapter will be taking a page out of the SnyderVerse's playbook, kickstarting the brand new franchise with the Man of Steel himself. This week, James Gunn and Peter Safran finally unveiled their film and television slate which begins with Superman: Legacy, a film that will be centered on a much younger iteration of DC's flagship superhero.

As it stands, key details about the project remain undisclosed but Gunn revealed that he's halfway through the project's script. Amid all the hype and excitement his Superman reboot is currently generating, the DC Studios co-CEO took to Twitter to seek input regarding an important element of the character that has long been debated by fans.

Creating a poll on the social media platform, Gunn asked DC fans if Superman should wear trunks or not. Surprisingly enough, the majority of fans want to see Kal-El bring back his red trunks despite the fact that many have grown accustomed to Superman ditching the "classic" look, something that Zack Snyder first incorporated in live-action.

In a subsequent tweet, Gunn clarified that the poll was made out of fun and its end result won't affect his decision-making. He wrote: "Btw this is for fun. We’re not going to decide whether Superman has trunks or no trunks based on an egregiously non-scientific Twitter poll."

Gunn has previously stated that he and Safran are committed to putting Superman at the forefront and while it's quite unfortunate that Henry Cavill will no longer be able to portray the character, I have complete faith in Gunn's vision for the character.

DC Studios' Superman: Legacy is currently slated for release on July 11, 2025.
