Final Fantasy VIII is Finally Getting Remastered for Modern Consoles

After remastered versions of Final Fantasy VII, IX, X, X-2, and XII were released, fans were left wondering why Final Fantasy VIII was left out. Praised at the time, the eighth installment of the popular JRPG series has garnered a reception in recent years but the title still has a lot of fans. Finally, after years of waiting, Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will finally come to modern consoles.

The remastered version of this beloved/hated JRPG was announced during Square Enix's E3 conference, which actually got a fair bit of fans pumped up. Maybe it's due to the game having more fans than expected or it could be due to those that want more old games to be readily available in newer gaming systems but this is definitely a win for everyone involved.

Why it took so long to remaster this game is an argument for another day but the fact that all of the classic Final Fantasy games from the original PlayStation are now readily available is great. Plus, this could convince fans who think they hate the game to try it out again, especially if there are some quality-of-life improvements make this JRPG more fun and tolerable.

Final Fantasy VIII Remastered doesn't have a release date yet but it will be coming out on the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Finally.
