During Disney Investor Day 2020, Lucasfilm announced that a film titled Star Wars: Rogue Squadron will be directed by Patty Jenkins which got a release date for Christmas 2023. However, Disney just removed the title from its calendar sparking speculations of the movie being cancelled.

Is Star Wars: Rogue Squadron cancelled?

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron was announced by Lucasfilm in 2020 with Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins attached to the film alongside Matthew Robinson as the writer and it will be based on the books and the games of the same name under the Star Wars franchise.

However, in November 2021, it has been announced that the production of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron will be put on hold indefinitely and it is reportedly due to the creative differences between Lucasfilm and Patty Jenkins but was later clarified to be about scheduling conflicts.

Supposedly, the movie will be released on December 22, 2022, but in a report from Variety, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron has been officially removed from the release calendar of Disney. This leaves a blur on whether the movie of Patty Jenkins would still happen.

Despite being removed from the release calendar of Disney, there is no official word yet from any of the parties whether Star Wars: Rogue Squadron is cancelled.

Details on Star Wars: Rogue Squadron remains under wraps, to date, but in the Star Wars canon, the Rogue Squadron are formed by Luke Skywalker composed of Rebel Alliance pilots at the height of the war against the Galactic Empire.

If Star Wars: Rogue Squadron would still push through with Patty Jenkins as the director, she would be the very first female director to ever direct a Star Wars movie.

The fate of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron remains unknown as Disney removes it from their release schedule.
