Is Sabikui Bisco ACTUALLY Good?

Is Sabikui Bisco Akaboshi Good Worth Watching

First aired in January, the adventures of wanted mushroom keeper Bisco Akaboshi through the colourful and wacky world of post-apocalypse Japan have excited many fans.

Some people might have seen the memes of this show all across the internet the last few weeks - pictures of giant worms, machine-gun hippos and riding on crabs sum up this show’s quirkiness.

However, as a show, is Sabikui Bisco actually good and worth watching this season? We’ve taken a look!

What is Sabikui Bisco About?

Based on a light novel series, Rust-Eater Bisco is set in a post-apocalyptic Japan that has largely been wiped out by a windborne plague known as rust. Now, all that remains are a few heavily-fortified cities and remote encampments.

The people believe that mushroom spores are to blame for the rust, which makes Bisco Akaboshi, a mushroom keeper whose arrows instantly grow mushrooms wherever they hit, one of the most wanted criminals.

However, Bisco believes that mushrooms are not the enemy, and might actually be the answer to overcoming the plague. He is on the hunt for a legendary mushroom known as Sabikui, which is believed to eat rust.

On his travels, he bumps into Milo Nekoyanagi, an underground doctor who also believes mushrooms might be the cure. Milo partners up with Bisco and the two of them travel through the wasteland in search of the legendary mushroom.

Yes, Sabikui Bisco is a good series that should appeal to action-adventure fans.

Sabikui Bisco has already made a reputation for itself as being a quirky action series, which is quite something in the world of anime.

The world has a Mad Max feel about it, with vast, desolate lands populated with occasional crumbling landmarks and tribal groups. However, it balances that atmosphere with bright, popping colours and an array of quirky features.

Giant flying fish, crabs for horses and mushroom arrows are just some of the weird elements that add a light-hearted element to this series.

Thanks to its light-hearted nature, Sabikui Bisco is a series that should entertain a wide audience, so we would recommend watching or at least giving it a try!

Sabikui Bisco isn’t a full-on or violent action series like Attack on Titan or Berserk, for example, instead opting for more comedic moments and brighter visuals.

Even if you don’t usually watch action series, you can enjoy exploring the wacky world of Sabikui Bisco and the deepening relationship between Bisco and Milo.
