Re: Zero − Starting Life in Another World takes the main protagonist of the show, Subaru Natsuki, into unknown territory when, after he exits a local convenience store for supplies, he magically got transported to a place inhabited by both humans and demi-humans. Subaru gets confused as it is not the Japan he knows of.

Instead, Subaru arrives in a place where he is in a fantasy world and his first encounter in the said place which he got transported to is a group of thugs brawling at him. He was fortunate enough to bump into Satella who rescued him from the thugs.

Satella was just a passerby looking for her stolen insignia. Because of her help to Subaru, he offered to look with her where they ended up in a loot shop after assuming that the insignia might have been traded for money. To their surprise, it is not the insignia that they found but their death.

Subaru wakes up again, not in the afterlife though, in the same place, in the same location, in the same event, and he re-lives the day he arrived in the mysterious town over and over again.

The series is on its second season which has 25 episodes lined up in a split-cour which divides the whole season into two; the first part having ten to thirteen episodes after which a three-month block on the TV broadcast stands in as a break.

Re: Zero − Starting Life in Another World is an isekai anime produced by White Fox which is based on a light novel series of the same name written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichirou Otsuka published by Media Factory.

The anime series also has separate manga series which is neither shōnen nor shōjo, nor seinen. This is because it originated from the light novel series. The manga series are separate with different creators and magazine releases.

The first of the separate manga series is Re: Zero − Starting Life in Another World − Chapter 1: A Day in the Capital by Daichi Matsue which was released on Media Factory's seinen manga magazine Monthly Comic Alive on June 27, 2014, and the final volume on March 23, 2015. Yen Press licensed the series in late 2015.

The second is Re: Zero -Starting Life in Another World-, Chapter 2: A Week at the Mansion, also licensed by Yen Press but this time, it's by Makoto Fugetsu and published in Square Enix's seinen magazine Monthly Big Gangan on October 25, 2014.

Daichi Matsue takes on the third with Re: Zero -Starting Life in Another World-, Chapter 3: Truth of Zero comprising of eleven volumes licensed by Yen Press and published through Comic Alive from July 2015 then the issue was released on May 27, 2015, to February 21, 2020.
