One Piece has one of the most amazing worldbuilding in a series. Oda's creativity is visibly poured into the story's setting and character designs. The story revolves around pirates who travel around the world — it's only fitting that the types of islands and places you'll encounter in the story are limitless.

With the show's length, we've already encountered an almost endless amount of characters. However, what's great about One Piece is even the side characters have such great depth and personalities — some even have the saddest backstories of all time, in any anime series.

In the show, you're not just going to fall in love with the Straw Hats. You're bound to have emotional attachments to minor characters, antagonists, and even an object (specifically a pirate ship).
