Is Loki In Spider-Man No Way Home?

Did the end of Loki Episode 2 just give some insight into its part to play in The MCU and the new Spider-Man film? Does this mean that Loki could be appearing in Spider-Man No Way Home?

Please be aware that this may contain some spoilers.

Towards the end of the second Loki episode, we were introduced to the character Lady Loki. With the help of reset charges stolen from The Time Variance Authority (TVA), Lady Loki ends up creating multiple Nexus events (events that cause alternative timelines). The entire purpose of The TVA is to stop stray events from occurring so that they can ensure the safety and continuation of the "sacred timeline" which is the main timeline that The MCU has followed since its inception. One could easily see why Loki could be related to the Doctor Strange sequel, but how could the creation of a multiverse be linked to the new Spider-Man film?

Is There A Multiverse In Spider-Man?

Despite it not officially being confirmed, the fact that Spider-Man No Way Home involves a multiverse could be the worst kept secret in Hollywood right now. It has already been confirmed that Alfred Molina is returning to reprise the role of Doctor Octopus from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2, and Jamie Foxx has also been confirmed that he is returning as Electro from Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

As well as those two gems, Marvel Studios director Kevin Feige has also confirmed that Spider-Man No Way Home is linked to the doctor strange sequel - Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness. Therefore it feels fairly safe to say that a multiverse is absolutely occurring in No Way Home.

There have even been rumors that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield could be playing roles in the new Spider-Man film although nothing yet has been confirmed. Fans are simply going to have to keep their fingers crossed and hold their breath for when Spider-Man No Way Home is released on December 17th, 2021.

So, Will, We See Loki Appear In Spider-Man?

The hints received from Wandavision pointed more to the idea that Scarlet Witch would be responsible for the madness. However, since the release of Loki Episode 2, it's believed that it may in fact be the Norse god of mischief that could be responsible for the chaos in the multiverse. Therefore it would seem very plausible that Loki could appear in both Spider-Man and Doctor Strange.

It seems quite fitting as the concept of the multiverse was first introduced to us in Spider-Man Far From Home when Quentin Beck AKA Mysterio pretends to be a hero from another universe, which greatly excites Peter. However, it looks as though our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man could be experiencing it for himself in the next Spidey film. So what part could Loki play?

Although it's not confirmed that Loki is actually appearing in the upcoming Spider-Man or Doctor Strange sequels, the strongest hints about Loki's involvement comes from head writer Michael Waldron.

In an interview with Collider, when asked about the ramification Loki would have on the effects of the two MCU films, Waldron who wrote both Loki and the script for Doctor Strange 2 said the following:

"I think one of the joys of being a writer in the Marvel world is getting to make terrible messes and leave them for your predecessors. Although, occasionally, you find yourself being your own predecessor,"

He then went on to say;

"For instance, you write the Loki show and then you end up writing Doctor Strange 2, having to clean up your own mess and that can be a lot of fun."

So the Loki TV series is clearly showing to have some form of impact on the rest of The MCU, and this is only after the second episode! Hopefully, more episodes within the series will give a deeper insight into just how big a part Loki could play on The MCU timeline, only time will tell (pun not originally intended).

New Loki episodes can be found every Wednesday on Disney Plus.
