Interestingly enough, it has been revealed today that Mel Gibson is set to direct Lethal Weapon 5. The actor will be taking over the original director, Richard Donner, who died in July. According to Gibson, it is a proper tribute to Donner.
“[Donner] was developing the screenplay and he got pretty far along with it," Gibson said. "And he said to me one day, ‘Listen, Kid, if I kick the bucket, you will do it.’"

Yes, the only streaming platform to air Lethal Weapon 5 will be HBO Max. Currently, HBO Max is broadening its exclusive feature films in the upcoming years, starting with Zac Snyder's Cut of Justice League, Daniel Villeneuve's Dune, and so on.
