Animated by studio REVOROOT and directed by Nobukage Kimura, the series begins with introducing a 27-year-old office worker who dedicates herself to her job and literally dies from overwork. When she gets to the afterlife, she meets a sympathetic goddess who decides to send her to another world where she can live a simple and carefree life in the body of an eternally youthful and immortal witch. Taking on the name Azusa, the witch makes a living for the next 300 years by killing slimes and making medicines from herbs. One day, after a couple of centuries of this, she learns she has maxed out her level and suddenly has different creatures appearing on her doorstep to challenge her including adventurers, a dragon, slime spirits, elves, and so much more!

With the first season of the series set to only air for 12 episodes, maybe you'll find yourself in the enviable position of wanting to read more about Azusa the witch but don't know where to look. In that case, read on to find out more about the original source material behind this anime.

If you hadn't figured it out already based on the stupidly long title, I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years was originally a light novel written by Kisetsu Morita and illustrated by Benio. The series originally ran on the user submission site Shōsetsuka ni Narō, beginning in 2016 before being acquired and published professionally starting in 2017. As of April 2021, the series has 16 volumes in print in Japan. The series is licensed in English by Yen Press, who have released 9 volumes as of January 2021.

In addition to the original light novel, there is also a manga adaptation which began running in June 2017. The manga adaptation is done by Yūsuke Shiba and is up to 8 collected volumes as of March 2021. Yen Press is also releasing the manga in English and is up to 5 volumes as of March 2021. Unfortunately, this means that the story is not complete and is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon.
