Is Army of the Dead 2 Still Happening? Here's What Zack Snyder Has to Say

The release of Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead on Netflix back in 2021 was a huge success for the streamer. Since then, fans have been wondering whether Snyder will move forward with a sequel, especially since the end of the first film hinted at the story that they'll possibly explore in the follow-up.

So far, Netflix remains mum about any updates on the sequel although they are expanding it into a franchise as evidenced by the prequel spinoff Army of Thieves, which was released months after the first film, and the animated series Lost Vegas that is still currently in the works.

Now, in a recent interview with The Nerd Queens (via Screen Rant), Snyder gave some updates about the development of the Army of the Dead sequel. He confirmed that it is still in the works although it might take some time since he is focusing right now on his upcoming film Rebel Moon.

"As far as the Army Universe goes though: it’s still alive and well in my mind. I know exactly what I would do. It really depends on how we try to figure out how we go forward with Rebel Moon and [the] Rebel Moon universe," he said.

"It’s not a small-time commitment, Rebel Moon stuff. A sci-fi thing at this scale does require a lot of attention to make it all make sense. It’s a very interconnected world."

While the sequel's development has been slow, it is still great to hear that it is still on its way as far as recently and Snyder remains committed to expanding the franchise just like what he's also doing right now with Rebel Moon. However, he didn't provide any timeline on when we might see it happen.

For now, all we can do is wait and see when Netflix and Snyder will announce the next movie in the Army universe as well as the animated prequel series that has also been in the works for the last couple of years.
