It's no secret that Marvel Studios has been aiming to promote diversity in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for some years now and we're not just speaking about race and culture here, we're also talking about the characters' individuality and sexual diversity as well.

Not a lot of people may realize this fact but the MCU already features quite a few characters who identify themselves as part of the LGBTQ community. One prime example is Valkyrie (played by Tessa Thompson) from the Thor franchise who Kevin Feige hailed as the MCU's "first LGBTQ character" although her comic book counterpart has always been bisexual.

Now, the billion-dollar franchise could potentially introduce another bisexual hero soon and that is none other than Riri Williams aka Ironheart. According to a report from tipster Daniel Richtman (via Patreon), the studio is toying with the idea of turning Riri, who identifies herself as a straight woman in the comics into an LGBTQ character.

Interestingly, Riri's character had an altercation with Vision's daughter Viv who's lesbian in the comics after the synthezoid confessed her crush on Williams. She even kisses her at one point much to the chagrin of Ironheart. Maybe that's what they're going for but of course, it's still a rumor at this point so take it with a grain of salt.

Personally, I don't mind the MCU tweaking the backstory of its characters to fit the current "climate". As a fan, I'm more after the stories and action anyway but I do understand that not every comic book fan is able to embrace change wholeheartedly. I gotta say though, it's time for fans to become more open and accepting of the said changes.

Meanwhile, Ironheart is expected to drop in 2022 on Disney+.
