Despite the fact that it's competing head-to-head with the likes of Marvel and DC on a weekly basis, Amazon Prime's animated superhero series Invincible is slowly gaining a cult following in the comic book world thanks to its compelling story, astonishing animation, and gruesome action which instantly sets it apart from other superhero animated shows.

The series follows the story of Mark Grayson, a normal teenager who begins to develop his own set of powers following his seventeenth birthday. His abilities don't come as a shock as his father Nolan happens to be the most powerful superhero on the planet. Soon after discovering his own powers, Grayson follows his dad's footsteps.

Now, the series which debuted just last March is soaring to even greater heights. Ahead of the release of its eighth and final episode for Season 1, the streaming service announced that the series has been renewed for at least two more seasons. Of course, its renewal doesn't come as a surprise anymore since the story is only starting to pick up but the fact that Amazon already greenlit a third season this early tells you that they have complete faith in the material.

Invincible isn't your cookie-cutter superhero series which is why a lot of fans are enjoying it. It's also great that Amazon is somewhat pushing the envelope in terms of offering fans alternatives that don't exactly play safe and follow the same formula the likes of Marvel and DC have been utilizing for years.

All episodes of Invincible Season 1 are available for streaming on Amazon Prime.
