Tragedy has struck again for Indiana Jones 5. A crew member of the highly anticipated sequel was found dead in his hotel room while filming on location in Morocco.

Nic Cupac was working as a grip on the second unit of Indiana Jones 5. The crew member was on location in Morocco for Disney and Lucasfilm’s new project when died suddenly. He was 54 at the time.

According to Deadline, additional information on Cupac's death, including the cause of death, has not been shared by his family. However, it was confirmed that it is not connected to the sequel's production.

A Lucasfilm spokesperson issued a statement regarding Cupac's passing. “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Nic Cupac, an incredibly talented colleague and member of the film community who will be greatly missed,” they said.

Cupac had worked on several projects with Lucasfilm including Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story. His other credits include Cruella, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Assassin’s Creed, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

Indiana Jones 5 has gone through a lot of trouble since it started production. Back in June, returning star Harrison Ford reportedly injured his shoulder during the rehearsal of a fight scene. The cast and crew continued production around Ford's injury.

The premise of Indiana Jones 5 is still a mystery but fans are just happy to know that Ford will be returning as the titular hero. Nevertheless, there is a possibility that we'll be getting new details on the sequel soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Indiana Jones 5 has not yet been given an official title. The film will also star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Toby Jones, and Antonio Banderas. The new movie is scheduled for release on June 30, 2023.
