Hunter x Hunter Creator Yoshihiro Togashi Gains Almost 2M Twitter Followers Overnight

In case you missed it, Hunter x Hunter is getting new chapters, as confirmed by none other than Yoshihiro Togashi. The mangaka decided that it was finally time to create a Twitter account and announce four new chapters as his first tweet. Not surprisingly, fans have started following Togashi's account which has amassed almost 2 million followers in 24 hours.

On Tuesday, May 24, Yoshihiro Togashi created a Twitter account then sent his first tweet which teased four new chapters of his manga. At first, people were wary of the account (there have been some fake accounts in the past) but they began getting excited when One-Punch Man artist Yusuke Murata confirmed that it belongs to Togashi.

From there, things escalated quickly as millions of fans began following Togashi's account. As of writing, the Hunter x Hunter creator has 1.6 million followers on Twitter and is currently the third most followed mangaka on the platform. For reference, My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi has 2.1 million followers while Fairy Tail mangaka Hiro Mashima has 1.7 million followers.

Hunter x Hunter was first serialized on Weekly Shonen Jump back in 1998. The manga by Yoshihiro Togashi follows an orphan boy named Gon who learns his father Ging is still alive and has become a Hunter (guess he's not an orphan after all). The determined Gon sets out to become a Hunter like his father and befriends three other applicants while dealing with mysterious encounters with the transmuter named Hisoka.

For now, it is unclear when the new chapters of Hunter x Hunter will be released. However, it looks like Togashi has just started working so it might still be a long wait. Nevertheless, fans are already excited and we'll be waiting for another announcement soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
