House of the Dragon Opening Sequence Recycles Game of Thrones But With Fire and Blood

House of the Dragon is back with its second episode and this time, the series started out with a huge surprise for Game of Thrones fans. The prequel show debuted its epic opening sequence featuring the iconic theme of the original series and a little bit more fire and blood.

The new opening sequence once again shows a map of a dark stone city and the viewer is guided through the terrain by a river of blood. It's a cool version of the sequence that originated in Game of Thrones but it's also an ominous one suggesting that the city will be covered in blood by the end of House of the Dragon.

It's not a huge surprise that House of the Dragon still makes use of the iconic Game of Thrones theme. After all, it's a theme that people immediately connect to an amazing show so hearing it again has people expecting big things in the prequel.

House of the Dragon Episode 2 followed the events directly after the premiere where Rhaenyra Targaryen was announced as King Viserys' heir. The princess immediately got to work as the heir apparent, choosing a leader of the Kingsguard and butting heads with Rhaenys Velaryon, the Queen Who Never Was.

The Rogue Prince also gave us another disturbing moment as King Viserys interacts with a 12-year-old Laena Velaryon, who was previously suggested as his new queen. The young girl is shockingly aware of her duties if she becomes queen, boldly telling the king that she will begin sleeping with him when she is 14 years old.

In Dragonstone, Daemon Targaryen announces that he will marry Mysaria who is with child and takes a dragon egg to be placed in the baby's cradle. It is revealed that Daemon had taken the egg that Rhaenyra chose for her brother and she demands to take it back.
