House of the Dragon: Matt Smith Questioned Daemon Targaryen's Numerous Sex Scenes

It's hard to imagine Game of Thrones without any sex scenes and perhaps the same thing can be said about its spin-off shows. Interestingly, Matt Smith has revealed that there's at least one character in House of the Dragon who gets it a lot more than the rest of us. Still, the former Doctor Who actor admitted that he questioned all those sex scenes he had to film while playing Daemon Targaryen.

Daemon Targaryen is one of the major players in House of the Dragon and an unpredictable one at that. However, there is one thing we can expect from the prince: He's something of a sex god. Matt Smith confirmed with Rolling Stone that he had to film so many sex scenes that he began questioning whether it was all necessary.

“You do find yourself asking, ‘Do we need another sex scene?’. And they’re like, ‘Yeah, we do.’ I guess you have to ask yourself: ‘What are you doing? Are you representing the books, or are you diluting the books to represent the time [we’re living in]?’ And I actually think it’s your job to represent the books truthfully and honestly, as they were written,” Smith said.

It's interesting to note that Daemon Targaryen had so much sex that Matt Smith started questioning if they are doing the right thing for the show. Still, there could be some important things to take note of during these scenes, just like in Game of Thrones. With that in mind, we can't wait to find out just why Smith had to go through all this for the sake of his role in House of the Dragon.

The series will also feature Paddy Considine as Daemon's brother Viserys I Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and Emma D'Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen. House of the Dragon will finally premiere on HBO on August 21, 2022.
