House of the Dragon Episode 6 Already Teased Aemond's Grisly Fate

There is little doubt that House of the Dragon uses a lot of foreshadowing to tease what will happen in the Game of Thrones prequel. However, the fate of Aemond Targaryen was pretty much confirmed in Episode 6.

In House of the Dragon Episode 6, it has been revealed that Aemond Targaryen doesn't have a dragon, something that the other princes constantly remind him of. At one point, his brother Aegon II and nephews Jacaerys and Lucerys present him with a "dragon": a pig named the Pink Dread.

Aemond is undoubtedly unhappy about not having a dragon but his mother Alicent Hightower assures him that he will have one. Interestingly, his sister Helaena, who is inspecting a bug in the room, says that he will have to close an eye.

Helaena may have been referring to the bug but it's also a reference to what happens to Aemond as he desperately tries to get a dragon. In the book, Aemond ends up losing an eye when a fight with his nephews breaks out. We won't tell you how it happens but it looks like this will be something to look forward to in the next episode of House of the Dragon.

Interestingly, Aemond's fate is not the only thing that Helaena refers to in the scene. Before she talks about closing an eye, the princess says, "the last ring has no legs at all." Book readers will be quick to note that it also describes the aftermath of the Dance of the Dragons where Aegon II loses his legs.

It's unclear if Helaena has the gift of foresight but she certainly made a couple of interesting points in her brief appearance in House of the Dragon Episode 6. With that in mind, we're hoping to learn more about the princess next week.

The latest episode of House of the Dragon is now available on HBO Max. House of the Dragon Episode 7 is titled Driftmark and is set to premiere on HBO on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 9:00 PM EST.
