House of Gucci's Lady Gaga Nominated for BAFTA's Best Actress


The very talented, multi-awarded Pop Singer Lady Gaga is dominating not just the music industry but now, the film industry.

Lady Gaga took a shift to her music career when she starred in 2018’s Musical/Romance ‘A Star is Born’ as Ally, an aspiring musician. Her co-star, who is also the director of the film is no other than Bradley Cooper, who’s not just a multi-awarded actor but is also starting to produce his own films.

Lady Gaga was nominated for Best Original Music and Best Actress as her performance was massively praised. But it seems like Lady Gaga will stop at nothing.

In 2021, Gaga is the lead star for Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci. Her role as Patrizia Reggiani impressed the film critics considering that this is just her second acting job. The plot of the film is centered on Patrizia’s story, how humble beginnings started to change when she marries into the Gucci Family. She discovered her fair share of ambition, unravel the family legacy, and reckless pattern of betrayal, decadence, revenge -- and ultimately murder. She is joined by veteran actors like Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Salma Hayek, and Al Pacino.

When asked about the film in a podcast by Variety, Lady Gaga’s effort to give her best performance to the film; “I had a psychiatric nurse with me toward the end of filming,” Gaga told Variety. “I sort of felt like I had to.”

“What I found fascinating was that the line was thin between her humanity and any other woman’s humanity, meaning any other woman might have felt like her,” she says, continuing, “I didn’t want there to be that big of a difference between her and any other woman because I don’t believe there was that big of a difference. I just think she did it. And most women don’t.”

Today, The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) gave 3 nominations for House of Gucci; Best Movie Makeup and Hairstyling, Best British Film, and for the second time, Best Actress.

Lady Gaga is now lined up with fellow nominated BAFTA actresses like Alana Haim, Emilia Jones, Renate Reinsve, Joanna Scanlan, and Tessa Thompson.

BAFTA’s awards night will be on Sunday, March 13, 2022.
