Honest Trailer for The Boys Says Show is Zack Snyder’s DCEU Unchained

September is here, and everyone is excited for the return of Amazon’s superhero satire show, The Boys. Thanks to Screen Junkies, we have a new Honest TV Trailer for one of the most critically acclaimed comic book series of the decade.

Check it out:

Amazon Studios invites you to enter the most brutal, harsh, unforgiving world since Amazon’s warehouses. See what the DC Universe would look like if Zack Snyder never had to take a studio note, where Superman is a stone-cold psychopath, Wonder Woman is a jaded alcoholic, the Flash is a junkie who’s lost his edge, Aquaman is a sexual predator, Martian Manhunter is a creepy perv, Batman is pretty much the same, and they all work for a company with the outward-facing cheerful polish of Disney, but the internal money-hungry killer instinct of… also Disney.

You have to admit, the description of the superheroes is pretty spot-on. While the Marvel films are very positive with their take on heroes, and DC attempting to be a bit more nuanced, The Boys just make every hero in the show despicable, and it might as well be real for anyone who would be famous and powerful as a member of the Seven.

With superheroes currently in a boom right now, it’s actually great that we get a show that manages to give us a look at how dark things could get for a world with metahumans. Hopefully we’ll get to see some more of these experimental takes on heroes in the bigger franchises, but it’s likely Disney and WB will want to keep things kid-friendly.

For now, fans wait for The Boys Season 2 to hit Amazon Prime Video this Sept. 4.
