The Witcher series already made its release on Netflix last weekend. And while it is still the story that fans have come to know and love, there are a few little tweaks of the original books in the show; one of which includes a character surprisingly possessing powers.

This article contains SPOILERS for Netflix's The Witcher.

In The Witcher's pilot episode, the audience saw Princess Cirilla's abilities when she screamed in protest about leaving her grandmother behind which caused the glasses to shake on the table. Of course, this is just a glimpse of her powers and what they could be.

In a recent interview with Comic Book, The Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich details this change in the series. "I think that when you're telling a story of the most powerful little girl in the world, you've got to build that in early," she explained. "And to me, I'm a big fan of suspense rather than surprise in storytelling, so surprise obviously makes a lot of sense."

Hissrich thinks that suspense is "much more fun" because the audience is already aware that Ciri has this kind of power, but will get them curious as to what's going to happen, what she'll do with it, or is she trying to hold it within her, and the like.

"To me, it aligns us with the character in a really interesting way," she added. This somehow makes the audience either "root" for or against her because "we're sharing her secret." So the very reason that they decided to reveal her abilities early on in the show which is something that's not in the novel was to "showcase" her "very special power" and build that suspense.

The Witcher is now available to stream on Netflix.
