The Witcher made its debut on Netflix last month and has already been a massive success with the fans and the mainstream audience. While there are a few criticisms that fans pointed out, the second season is ought to improve these issues and fans are in for an even epic ride.
Speaking to Vulture, The Witcher showrunner Lauren Hissrich shares what's to come in season two. "We already know the stories we're telling [for season two], but I want to make sure that we have the time to tell them appropriately," she said. "One of the biggest changes we've made is to make sure that the scripts aren't too long."
Hissrich thinks it's "terrible" when they shoot a story that they are proud of but it turns out to be 95 minutes long that'll end up being condensed to 60 minutes of television. "You end up cutting stuff that you know would be great, or would be important," she added.
The showrunner assured the viewers that they wouldn't be "trying to push as much story" in the second season and to avoid trying to "constantly" introduce new characters, worlds, and kingdoms, and increase the politics all the time. "Sometimes we just get to sit with characters and learn about them a little bit more," Hissrich added. "And that's probably the thing I'm most excited for people to see."
In a previous interview, Hissrich revealed that the Nilfgaardian armor would be "totally different" in season two, which is something that the fans of the franchise have criticized in the first season.
