Hela Takes The Spotlight In Cool New Featurette For Thor: Ragnarok

Marvel Studios has had some excellent releases this year with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming, and the last movie will be this November's Thor: Ragnarok. Marketing for the film is now on full swing, and a new featurette gives us a good look at Cate Blanchett's Hela.

Like the featurette points out, Hela will be serving as the MCU's first female villain, and it looks like she'll be a competent hand-to-hand combatant while also having a unique set of powers. Funny how we also get to see her recruiting Skurge the Executioner (Karl Urban) in the clip since Blanchett and Urban had worked together in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

With Avengers: Infinity War coming out next year, a lot of fans are guessing that Blanchett's Hela will be filling in the role of Lady Death from the comics—what with her being the Asgardian Goddess of Death. Since Thanos' infatuation for the literal personification of Death could be too abstract of a concept, it would make sense that the MCU use Hela to fill in that role instead. Then again, we haven't been getting any news about Blancett's involvement with Infinity War.

Hopefully she nails the role in this third Thor movie.

Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk, his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor's quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization.

Thor: Ragnarok comes out Nov. 3.
