Harrison Ford Has Enthusiastic Response to His Indiana Jones 5 De-Aging

Hollywood legend Harrison Ford is set to reprise his iconic role of Indiana Jones later this year in the upcoming film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. A lot of fans are looking forward to seeing what they have in store for the beloved archeologist's final adventure on the big screen.

Besides the return of Ford in the role at a now older age, the film will also include flashbacks to his younger years and the sequence that required the actor to undergo the de-aging technology in order for the visual effects team to accurately recreate his physical appearance during that time.

While we've only seen a small glimpse of the film's de-aging of the actor, the quick look that we saw was promising and it sounds like they will be able to successfully pull it off. So what does Ford himself think about the result?

In his recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the icon was asked about his thoughts on the results of his de-aging in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny where he gave an enthusiastic response and applauded the visual effects team for their efforts.

"That is my actual face at that age. They have this artificial intelligence program. It can go through every foot of film Lucasfilm owns, because I did a bunch of movies for them. They have all this footage, including film that wasn’t printed," he said.

"They could mine it from where the light is coming from, the expression. But that’s my actual face. I put little dots on my face and I say the words and they make it. It’s fantastic."

Based on his comments, it sounds like Ford was really impressed by the work that the visual effects did in order to de-age him back to his younger years around the time of the earlier Indiana Jones films and it is a promising sign of the overall result that we will see in just a few months.

It also just shows how far the technology has become in the past several years and it looks like we might be getting closer to an eerier and more accurate look where it won't be too obvious that it is all just visual effects. Hopefully, that is indeed the case for the upcoming film.
