Guardians of the Galaxy: James Gunn Officially Welcomes Kevin Bacon to the MCU

Kevin Bacon is officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. James Gunn has just welcomed the Footloose star into the MCU ahead of the premiere of the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

James Gunn recently shared a new photo on his official Twitter account. The image shows the Guardians of the Galaxy director with his brother Sean Gunn who is dressed as Kraglin as well as a smiling Kevin Bacon.

"The #GOTGHolidaySpecial debuts one week from today on @DisneyPlus, introducing my favorite character in the #MCU, Mr. @kevinbacon," Gunn wrote.

It's an awesome image confirming that Kevin Bacon will be playing himself in the special feature. Although it is unclear what will happen in the feature, it is believed that the other Guardians will go after a fictionalized version of Kevin Bacon so they could give Peter Quill the best Christman present.

We already know that Peter Quill completely idolizes Kevin Bacon and there is little doubt that he often speaks about this admiration to the rest of the Guardians. Needless to say, it wouldn't be a surprise if someone like Drax comes across Bacon and decides the actor is the best gift for Quill.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is also set to bring back Michael Rooker as Yondu Udonta. Although the character died in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, there is a possibility that Yondu will be brought back in a flashback.

The Holiday Special will star Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, and Zoe Saldaña. It will also introduce Maria Bakalova as Cosmo the Spacedog.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will premiere on Disney+ on November 25, 2022. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled for release on May 5, 2023.
