Guardians of the Galaxy is Almost Done Filming, Says Director James Gunn

After taking a long hiatus from directing MCU films, director James Gunn is officially back to once again helm the highly-anticipated threequel of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

After breaking the world record for "the most makeup appliances created for a single production," beating Jim Carrey's The Grinch, Gunn has been keeping the fans updated with the film's production through his social media accounts.

Now, in James Gunn's recent reply to his Instagram post, he reveals how many days are left for filming.

James Gunn shared a heart-warming photo of 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy actress Laura Haddock together with his mom, who is the 'inspiration' for her character.

In Gunn's comment section, Gunn was asked if he had plans to include Nathan Fillon in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn directly responded and shared that they only have 8 more days left for shooting. See Gunn's comment below:

It's exhilarating to know that the fan-favorite MCU final film to the Guardians of the Galaxy is almost done filming. Although the threequel is pushing a 2023 release date, Gunn continues to tease the fans about what to expect with the upcoming film.

Gunn recently wrote to Twitter when asked about GOTG3. "Honestly they're great, I love this cast and crew," Gunn responded. "But there is also a lot of sadness and near-daily tears knowing this is the last Guardians movie for most of us." The director also responded to a fan that said that this doesn't have to be the last Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Gunn added, "It does with this cast."

Aside from the original Guardians cast, new additions to the GOTG3 include The Maze Runner star Will Poulter who will play MCU's Adam Warlock, and Peacemaker star Chukwudi Iwuji will also be joining the cast, rumored to play The High Evolutionary.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is pushing a May 5, 2023 release date.
