Grand Theft Auto III Might be Coming to Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch has proven to be a sales juggernaut and many people are claiming that it could be one of the best consoles ever made, minus analog drifting. There are still publishers that haven't released a lot of their games for the system, including Rockstar Games, who have only released L.A. Noire thus far. Well, this Australian rating has gamers thinking that Grand Theft Auto III will be released on Switch.

Why is that you ask? Because Grand Theft Auto III is already available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

If Rockstar Games is really planning on bringing GTA III on Switch, that would be a huge deal since it would be the first mainline game to be available on a Nintendo console, Sure, the DS has Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, which brought back the 2D GTA gameplay system and made it a lot better, but that's technically a spinoff title.

Back in 2001, Grand Theft Auto III was a landmark title that literally changed all of gaming forever. While it is a bit dated these days, there wouldn't be an overabundance of open-world games these days if it weren't for this title. We owe the success (and oversaturation) of big, open-world games to this title, so be nice everyone.

As someone who isn't too big a fan of Grand Theft Auto, even I have to admit that a GTA III Switch port sounds exciting. Older games tend to look better on a handheld so this should look fine.

No release date for Grand Theft Auto III Switch has been revealed as of this writing.
