God of War Creator Criticizes Video Game Awards Saying They Should Have Less Movie Stars

It looks like the creator of the critically-acclaimed God of War videogame franchise doesn't really believe in the power of having movie stars in games.

Taking to Twitter, SIE Santa Monica Studio creative director Cory Barlog gave out some pretty sharp criticism about video game award shows. Watching the Golden Globes, Barlog decided to poke some fun, noting that there just aren't enough Video Game personalities presenting at the event.

The God of War videogame creator points out that while Game Awards are full of television and film personalities, there isn't any representation from the gaming industry at other awards show at all. Though this seems like a jab at videogame events and videogames which rely on the star power that celebrities can bring, Barlog also noted in his thread that he wanted to reiterate that he wasn't criticizing actors and actresses. Instead, he continues to hope that the workers in the videogame industry would believe in themselves more as creators instead of relying on the power of celebrity.

For those who aren't familiar with Balrog's work, God of War (2018) has been considered the videogame creator's greatest achievement. Not only did the game redirect Kratos energy (from being angry at the Greek Pantheon to focusing on raising his son in the world of Norse Mythology), but it also changed the combat system of the God of War videogame franchise, arming Kratos with a throwable ax instead of giving him his iconic twin blades.

God of War is available for purchase on PlayStation 4.
