Even at the tender age of eight, the then-aspiring actor showed he was a natural performer. He made his Broadway debut in the play Maggie Flynn, opposite the great Shirley Jones.

After graduating, Giancarlo Esposito started his entertainment career. He began working as a singer for the educational children's TV show The Electric Company, which was Sesame Street's sister show.

He then played the role of a camp counselor on Sesame Street and started playing minor roles in movies in the 1980s. He got his break in Spike Lee's 1988 musical comedy School Daze.

With the film's success, he became a part of other Spike Lee movies, like the 1989 film Do the Right Thing, the 1990 drama Mo' Better Blues and the 1992 biographical drama Malcolm X.

He then did Ali, Monkeybone, Girls Club and had small parts in Law & Order, 5ive Days to Midnight, South Beach, Ghost Whisperer and Bones.

In 2006, he joined Queen Latifah in Last Holiday and made his directorial debut in Gospel Hill in 2008. He also did the Broadway production of the Tennessee Williams play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Giancarlo Esposito's mainstream success began when he became the leader of a meth trafficking ring in Breaking Bad in 2009.
