Fortnite Drama Continues as Apple Countersues Epic Games

It looks like Apple vs Epic Games won't be ending anytime soon and will in fact get bloodier if anything else. After Epic asked the court to bring Fortnite back to the App Store, despite these court proceedings, feeling that damage to the game's iOS fanbase will worsen the longer it isn't available. Now, Apple has countersued Epic Games and it's clear that things aren't going to get better any time soon.

Apple said that this is a simple dispute over the money Epic makes from the App Store in a 67-page document. Furthermore, they also call out the company for wanting to be portrayed as some kind of Robin Hood-style underdog when they are actually a billion-dollar company that doesn't want to be bothered by paying some extra cash to Apple. While the cut Apple takes is a lot for smaller indie companies, the same cannot be said for Epic Games, who will keep making money despite themselves.

"Epic's lawsuit is nothing more than a basic disagreement over money. Although Epic portrays itself as a modern corporate Robin Hood, in reality it is a multi-billion dollar enterprise that simply wants to pay nothing for the tremendous value it derives from the App Store."

While Apple is far from the nicest company, taking a big percentage from the games that are sold on their stores, the fact that Epic Games dared them to remove Fortnite and released a planned piece of propaganda against Apple was shady. It's just hard to root for anyone in this story and we just hope it ends soon so the game can come back to iOS devices.
