Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 Features Jason Momoa's Aquaman and...Waterworld?

It looks like Fortnite is going to be in the cultural zeitgeist for some time, proving everyone wrong about that one scene from Avengers: Endgame becoming dated. We are currently in Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 3 and its latest event is called Splashdown, which will be introducing Jason Momoa's Aquaman to the game. Interestingly enough, the trailer also pays tribute to Waterworld of all things and we do not know why.

Actually, we do know why; water.

While we don't actually get to see Kevin Costner in the trailer above, we do see a weird furry avatar interacting with a number of the signature characters from Fortnite and Aquaman so that's pretty fun. It also gives fans an interesting indication of how this event will play out, which could change the game up quite a bit.

Forcing players to duke it out in a flooded world where Aquaman can use guns and axes to fight? Sounds like a pretty edgy ‘90s comic book from DC but we're sure fans appreciate how much effort the folks at Epic Games are putting into this event. Let's just hope that things feel different enough from those that feel disenfranchised with this game.

Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 3: Splashdown is now available. If you already have the game, all you'll need is an update so that you can get the event. The game remains free-to-play, though microtransactions can be used to buy cosmetics for your character.
