Firefly Lane Season 2 will be released in two parts. The first part of the second season premiered on December 2, 2022, while the second part will come out sometime in 2023.

Netflix announced the series renewal in May 2021, and that Firefly Lane season 2 will be coming by 2022.

Firefly Lane star Katherine Heigl confirmed the 2022 release date through a photo she posted on her Instagram.

In an interview with Deadline, Netflix's Drama Head Jinny Howe talked about the new season of Firefly Lane:

...is really going to deliver on all of the emotions, all the feels, as I say. It’s a really, really beautiful season, Katherine and Sarah, their dynamic is so, so strong, so I’m really excited to have fans return to that show.

When Was Firefly Lane Renewed for Season 2?

The first season of Firefly Lane premiered on February 3, 2021, on Netflix. Netflix renewed the series for a second season three months after the first season was released. The streaming service may have waited for a few months before announcing the renewal to assess the show's performance fully.

Firefly Lane Season 2 Production: When Did Firefly Lane Season 2 Start Filming?

Firefly Lane season 2 started filming in August 2021 in various places in Vancouver, Canada. Katherine Heigl's Twitter post confirmed that the shooting started.

Heigl posted a photo as Tully Hart on March 2022, sharing that filming was 2 weeks away from wrapping up. Principal photography was completed by April 2022.

Firefly Lane Season 2 will be the last

As reported by Deadline, Firefly Lane season 2 will be the last for the series. Netflix has decided not to renew the show for a third season.

The cast for Firefly Lane season 2 will include both old and new faces.

Returning to Firefly Lane

The main characters from the first season of Firefly Lane will return for season 2. Katherine Heigl returns to play Tully Hart, while Sarah Chalke also returns to play Kate Mularkey.

The other cast members returning are Ali Skovbye as a young Tully, Yael Yurman as Marah, and Brendan Taylor as Mutt.

New to Firefly Lane

Netflix announced four new additions to the cast of Firefly Lane season 2.

Ignacio Serricchio joins the cast as Danny Diaz. Serricchio is an Argentinian actor who played the cocky sportscaster Don West in Lost in Space. Greg Germann, another Grey's Anatomy alum, joins Firefly Lane as Benedict Binswanger, who is from an influential logging family.

We will also see India de Beaufort (from Netflix's Slumberland) as Charlotte and Jolene Purdy (from Wandavision) as Justine Jordan.

Aside from these recent additions to the cast, there are more new actors joining Firefly Lane season 2. We will see Kyra Leroux as Lisa-Karen, Craig March as Stan, and Seth Isaac Johnson as Eugene. The cast now also includes Aiden Howard as Brad, Chris McNally as Mr. Waverly, Coral Humphrey as Josie, and Remy Marthaller as a young Marah.

We may see Tully and Kate's friendship go through the hardest challenge yet when a confrontation takes place at a funeral where Tully came to pay her respects. The funeral may be for someone Kate holds dear, which could be Johnny, who left for Iraq and was injured, or for Kate's father.

Season 2 may also show us where Tully's career goes, which may include whether or not she offers Kate a job. We may also see more of Tully's mother, Cloud, who only took fleeting participation in Tully's life.

Firefly Lane season 2 will still be based on the novel by Kristin Hannah, which still leaves much to be covered. If season 2 follows the story of the book, we should get our tissues ready because it will be a sure tear-jerker.
