Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Physical Edition Seemingly Confirmed by Online Retailer

After years of waiting for it, Square Enix will finally release Final Fantasy VIII Remastered this year. Depending on who you ask, Final Fantasy VIII is either the best game in this series or the absolute worst one but there's no doubt that it has left a mark on fans and this remaster should get everyone talking about it again.

Most of us assumed that the game would only get a digital release since the remastered versions of Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy IX were also subject to them. However, retailer Play-Asia has revealed that physical editions of Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will be coming as well. We'll have to wait for further announcements but the fact that this trusted retailer has revealed physical copies means that they definitely exist.

If this remaster does receive a physical release, the game joins Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, and Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age as the only Final Fantasy remasters to get a physical release for the current generation. It's an interesting distinction for the game and we have to wonder why this remaster is getting a physical release while Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy IX remain digital-only.

Then again, things can always change.

Final Fantasy VIII Remastered is coming out on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC later this year.
