After getting announced last year without much follow-up, Square Enix has finally revealed the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition release date. To the surprise of many, this remastered Gamecube classic is coming next year, on January 23, 2020. This was a surprise and disappointment for many at first since there's no way a remaster for a game should take this long, especially since it was announced in 2018.

That was until more details on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered were revealed and it will make a lot of people happy.

Let's get the big news out of the way first; there will be cross-play across ALL systems. The game is coming out on PS4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android, so having cross-play on all those platforms is crazy. Being able to play the Android version with others on a Nintendo Switch is great and we now know why this remastered game took so long and we're pretty grateful.

There's also the usual extras that come with these re-releases, like a new post-game dungeon, new costumes, and voiceovers during battles, among other features. It's also worth noting that the performance on this game seems to be a lot better now since previous trailers had a lot of framerate drops.

While I'll prioritize getting Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE on Nintendo Switch, this definitely looks worthy of a purchase. Admittedly, I had doubts when the first few trailers came out but this looks much better now. I'll be putting this on my radar and you should too.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition is coming to PS4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android on January 23, 2020.
