Square Enix has release a new Final Fantasy 16 trailer on Thursday, Oct. 20, and it's loaded with medieval fantasy, political aggression, epic battles, and — in the Final Fantasy tradition — amazing summons, like Garuda, Ifrit, and other giant creatures, known as Eikons in Final Fantasy 16.

Titled Ambition, the new Final Fantasy 16 trailer runs for.a staggering four-and-a-half minutes in total, and reveals more backstory of is realm of Valisthea, and the various factions and kingdoms vying for power. Valisthea is home to Dominants, people with the power to summon Eikons. The epic fantasy features the story of Clive Rosfield, a warrior known as the First Shield of Rosaria, and his younger brother Joshua, a Dominant who possesses the power of the Phoenix. Square Enix revealed that the events of FF16 set Clive on “a dark and dangerous road to revenge.”

The new trailer also highlights the game's action-packed combat scenes and destructive powers.

In a press release, Hiroshi Takai, director of Final Fantasy 16, said that the developer has “turned its full attention to debugging and final adjustments,” and publisher Square Enix remains committed to RPG's summer 2023 release window.

While FF16 is the most highly-anticipated title from Square Enix, it's not the only Final Fantasy title the developer is working on. The second installment in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, titled Rebirth, is set to release "next winter." Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion will also launch later this year in December, so Final Fantasy fans have a lot of titles to look forward to.

Final Fantasy 16 doesn't have an official release date yet, but it's expected to release for the PlayStation 5, and a Windows PC version is also confirmed to arrive.
