Final Fantasy XVI just shared an update regarding its development and release date. The upcoming RPG from Square Enix is one of the most highly-anticipated games expected to arrive next year, and fans of the franchise are hyped to find out more about the epic story that's set in the land of Valisthea, a continent with six factions on the verge of conflict due to a spreading malady known as the Blight. FF XVI will be the first M-rated game in the franchise, so expect more mature themes compared to previous Final Fantasy games. Thankfully, fans won't have to wait for too long.

During an interview with Famitsu (via ResetEra), Final Fantasy XVI director Hiroshi Takai said that the game is about 95% complete, and the team is currently working on polishing the RPG and fixing bugs, but it sounds like the game is playable from start to finish as he mentioned that they've been playing FF16 recently.

According to producer Naoki Yoshida, the company plans to update fans on the release date by the end of 2022, so expect an official release date soon. Square Enix already confirmed that FF16 is set to launch sometime in Summer 2023, so we already have a release window.

Last month, Square Enix released a new Ambition trailer for Final Fantasy 16, which features epic cinematic footages and gameplay previews that will surely hype the fans of the franchise.
