Final Fantasy 16 is Exclusive to PlayStation 5 for 6 Months, According to PS5 Ad

Final Fantasy XVI, the highly-anticipated RPG from Square Enix, has been confirmed to be an exclusive PlayStation 5 game for at least six months. According to a new ad about PS5 DuelSense Wireless Controller's features, FF16 was briefly shown with a disclaimer at the bottom. The disclaimer reads: “Final Fantasy XVI anticipated Summer 2023. PS5 exclusive for six months.”

While we've been informed that Final Fantasy XVI had been a timed console exclusive for PlayStation 5, it was not specified for how long. Exclusive deals with Sony can vary significantly. Forspoken will be a PS5 exclusive for 24 months, while Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo were 12 months timed exclusives.

Final Fantasy XVI is also expected to arrive for the PC. When Square Enix announced FF16 in a PS5 showcase back in September 2022, the livestream shared the words, “also available on PC”. However, it's still unclear until when. There's still no word on whether or not the game is getting an Xbox release, but it'll probably take more than six months. Square Enix probably doesn't have any plans to release FF 16 for the Nintendo Switch.

Square Enix recently revealed that Final Fantasy XVI's development is about 95% complete, and that a release date update is coming soon. Based on the developer's recent updates, it looks like the game is ready to play from start to finish.
