Fox's streaming service Tubi just released our very first look at the film adaptation of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's multi-million defamation trial and it's something you'd have to see for yourself to actually believe. Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial follows the tumultuous relationship between Heard and Depp which leads to the much-talked-about defamation trial which received its verdict on June 1st.
Top-billed by Parallels star Mark Hapka and Alone in the Dark actor Megan Davis, the film is slowly gaining traction online as fans are interested to see an in-depth look at the years-long turmoil between the two. Some of them are also intrigued as to how the actors will breathe life into their respective characters and the trailer itself definitely gives you an idea.
The first thing you'll notice from the teaser is how intense and dramatic everything is. While the actress who plays Amber looks nothing like the controversial star, the actor who portrays Johnny looks eerily similar to the Hollywood icon and it's as if we're looking at Depp himself. We still don't know the intention behind the project but Tubi's chief content officer Adam Lewinson promises that Hot Take will "capture a timely take on a story that became part of the cultural zeitgeist, painting a unique picture of what millions watched play out in the headlines over the summer."
Heard and Depp's respective camps have yet to comment on the film but it would be safe to assume that both of them aren't pleased with the further exploitation of their legal drama, despite the trial being highly publicized.
Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial will be available for streaming on Tubi for free beginning September 30th.
