I think we can all agree that Disney's gamble to expand the Star Wars franchise via the House of Mouse's namesake streaming platform is paying off and three years removed from the conclusion of the divisive sequel trilogy, the fans' faith in the franchise has completely been restored.

One of Lucasfilm's biggest ventures this year is the standalone Obi-Wan Kenobi series which successfully captivated longtime fans of the Star Wars universe. As it stands, we still have no idea if a second season is actually happening but lead star Ewan McGregor says he'd have no problem reprising his role as Ben Kenobi.

Appearing at the Celebrity Fan Fest event in San Antonio (via The Direct), McGregor took part in a Q&A session with fans and when asked about a potential second season, the actor pretty much said that he's down to return as the Jedi Master.

Ewan revealed that Lucasfilm has yet to greenlight Season 2 but he's confident that it will eventually happen. He said: "I’m totally up for it, guys. I want to do it. I’m absolutely honest, there's no plans made yet. But I think, I’m pretty sure they’re just biding their time. But nobody has approached me as of yet."

Considering there are a lot of questions the first season left unanswered, there's definitely a good chance that Lucasfilm will continue Kenobi's adventures leading to the events of the original trilogy. And with the fandom's positive reaction to the returns of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, Disney would be foolish not to capitalize on the nostalgia and hype they bring to the franchise.

All episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi are available for streaming on Disney+.
