Eternals Star Kumail Nanjiani Addresses Patton Oswalt's Eternals 2 Hoax

MCU’s Eternals was released in November last year and though it held a big promise for Marvel in addressing story and time continuity such as why the members of the Eternals did not show up during the Infinity War and Endgame, it was still the lowest-rated MCU film from critics. Several months ago, Patton Oswalt, who voiced Pip the Troll in the post-credits scene of the film, revealed that an Eternals 2 has been confirmed, which Kumail Nanjiani (who played Kingo) addresses as a hoax.

Recently speaking with The Playlist on their Bingeworthy podcast to promote his upcoming series, Welcome to Chippendales, the actor also takes the time to comment on Oswalt’s ‘confirmation’ on an Eternals sequel. Nanjiani was quick to say that he has no idea, and the studio has yet to announce such to the crew. Read his full story below:

“I have no idea. I don’t think Patton was right. I think that there was a hoax website — one of those where it’s like one letter off from the real one. They tweeted it, and it spread around and I think that’s what Patton saw. I honestly don’t know anything.”

However, despite addressing hopes for an Eternals 2 anytime soon, Nanjiani admits Kingo was the most fun character he had played in a long time.

“I would love for Kingo to come back. I love playing that character… That one’s very fun to play, you’re just in a good mood. You do finger guns, you’re like a movie star — what’s not to love? You’re just in a good mood the entire time. I shot that movie for five months and I think I smiled straight for five months, so I would love to come back and I love what the MCU is doing now. I just saw Black Panther 2 and I was really, really blown away. So [as much as] I’d love to come back, I genuinely have no idea if or when.”

While there hasn’t been an official confirmation from Marvel Studios or Disney on an Eternals 2 happening sooner than expected, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters on November 11. Stay tuned on Epicstream for more updates on this story.
