The actor started on the TV movie Pit Pony: A Diamond in the Rough in 1997. He then reprised his role as Maggie MacLean on its spinoff series of the same name in 1999, earning him a Young Artist Award.

He then became a part of X-Men: The Last Stand. His success went further when he did Juno in 2007, receiving Best Actress awards from Academy Award, BAFTA Award and the Golden Globe Award. He also received the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, among others.
The other films he did are An American Crime, The Tracey Fragments, Smart People, Whip It, Inception, The Super and Peacock.

As a director, Elliot Page directed and produced the documentary There's Something in the Water. In 2021, he launched his own production company Page Boys Productions.

Elliot Page first announced that he was gay on Valentine's Day in 2014. At the time, he said he was sick of hiding his real sexuality.
He was still known as a female, using the name Ellen Page.
In December 2020, he came out as transgender on his social media pages and introduced himself as Elliot.
He said he felt compelled to share his story due to the anti-transgender rhetoric in politics. After three months, in March 2021, he graced the cover of Time magazine as the first openly Trans man.
In an accompanying interview, he revealed he was "queer and non-binary." He was still in recovery back then after undergoing top surgery. He also said that he had felt he was a boy since he was nine.
