Edgar Wright is Teasing a Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Anime

While Edgar Wright's adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was pretty well-loved, the film kind of pales in comparison to the whole story of the original comic by Bryan Lee O'Malley. With the movie hitting 10-years-old this year, Wright teases that there could be a Scott Pilgrim anime in the works.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Wright teases:

"There's some plans — and there's nothing official yet — but there are some plans to revisit the material in an animation way. We've been talking with Bryan and with [Scott Pilgrim EP Jared LeBoff] for a while [about]: What if we did something with the books in anime form? It's being discussed as we speak."

If anything, the closest thing that we have to a Scott Pilgrim anime was the animation that came out the same time as the movie. It's actually a prequel that gives us the background story of Scott and Kim. Check it out:

Personally, the first thing I watched was the film, but after checking out the comics, I can say that the movie kind of skips out a lot of the story. The finale with Gideon was way more spectacular, and each of the Evil Exes have more character compared to the film. You have to hand it to Wright though, the movie had a very unique comic/video game feel to it, and it managed to tell Scott's story despite all the cuts.

While the Scott Pilgrim anime isn't official yet, I'm hoping it gets enough traction so we can get a series sometime in 2022 or 2023. Make it happen, Adult Swim!
