Hunger Games actor Donald Sutherland just explained what the movie is about. He may be playing the villain, President Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games films, but it seems that he's aware of the message the franchise is trying to convey. When he was recently asked what the films were really about, he didn't hold back with his answer.

It is the powers that be in the United States of America.

films and/or read Suzanne Collins' books, you'd understand that this is the clear message it's trying to convey in a harsh dystopian world, but Sutherland did get one fact wrong, however, and that is the percentage that he says profit from war. It is far from 10% as he states. Those who profit from war, as General Smedley Butler of the USMC pointed out, are a tiny group of people: the ruling elite, which makes up the .0001%. Statistics may be off, but you get the point.
