Detective Conan, also known as Case Closed, follows a teenage prodigy who is already a great detective without even having graduated high school.

When he witnesses a disturbing illegal activity, he's dosed with an experimental drug and left for dead.

While our main character survives this ordeal, his body shrinks into that of a seven-year-old child.

This doesn't stop him from being one of the smartest anime characters of all time. As such, he keeps solving cases despite the challenges he must face due to being a teenager trapped in a young boy's body.

So far, Conan has not managed to permanently turn back in Detective Conan Case Closed. He does, however, temporarily get his body back in a limited number of episodes.

This happens either due to him accidentally ingesting other substances, or through drinking the concoctions of Ai Haibara, the creator of the drug that shrunk Conan, and a victim of the drug herself.

A Quora user has collected the episodes in which Conan gets his body back for a little while. These are episodes 49–50, 188–193, 521–523, and 616–621.

Conan also turns back in the 7th Detective Conan movie as well as on the 9th OVA.

Part of the show's charm has to do with the fact that Conan manages to solve mysteries despite being trapped in the body of a child. This means that unless the main plot picks up, Conan might not gain his body back anytime soon.

Some viewers wonder if Detective Conan will ever end. While an ending for the detective anime might be possible, we don't expect Conan permanently turn back until some of the last episodes.
