Doctor Who: Peter Capaldi Welcomes Ncuti Gatwa as Fourteenth Doctor

There is little doubt that Whovians are excited now that it has been confirmed that Ncuti Gatwa is the Fourteenth Doctor. However, it looks like the former Time Lords are also hyped up about the Sex Education star taking the lead role in Doctor Who. Peter Capaldi, who played the Twelfth Doctor, has awesome things to say about Gatwa, claiming that "he will make an amazing Doctor!"

Earlier this week, it was announced that Ncuti Gatwa will be the next Doctor following Jodie Whittaker's departure at the end of the year. Not surprisingly, people were delighted to learn that the Sex Education actor will be introduced as the latest incarnation of the Time Lord.

Interestingly, Peter Capaldi was one of the people who loved the news. The World War Z star was quick to praise Gatwa's exceptional road to becoming the new Doctor.

“What a great story – a little boy whose family escaped from the genocide in Rwanda in 1994 and at age two, finds refuge in Scotland, where he grows up to become Doctor Who,” Capaldi said.

“That’s a story to be proud of. With his huge talent and heart, I know Ncuti will make an amazing Doctor. How exciting,” he concluded.

It's great to know that Peter Capaldi approves of the new Doctor and is proud of what Gatwa has accomplished. Needless to say, Whovians around the world agree and we can't wait to see Gatwa as the Fourteenth Doctor soon.

It was previously confirmed that Jodie Whittaker will be leaving Doctor Who after the third and final special episode that will air this year. In addition to Whittaker, showrunner Chris Chibnall is departing the series and will be replaced by Russell T. Davies, who previously served as showrunner of the beloved BBC series.
