Doctor Who: Jodie Whittaker Teases Possible Return in Russell T Davies Next Series

There is little doubt that fans are hoping that Jodie Whittaker will stick around longer as the Thirteenth Doctor. However, it has already been confirmed that Whittaker's last appearance as the Time Lord will be in the third Doctor Who Special later this year. So is there any chance that Thirteen will be back in the future? Whittaker has just teased a possible return in the 60th anniversary that is being written by returning showrunner Russell T. Davies!

Jodie Whittaker recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly where she spoke about working on her final Doctor Who episode. Although the Attack the Block star admitted that she was happy to film the regeneration scene, she is hoping to keep in touch with Davies in case he wants her to return as the Thirteenth Doctor.

"I'm very lucky he allowed me to have his number," Whittaker said of the showrunner. "For all the people to pass the baton to, I mean it's an absolute honor and joy. It's certainly in the safest and most exciting hands, and what a wonderful time for the show."

So is Jodie Whittaker returning for the 60th anniversary special? "Once you're in [Doctor Who] you never want to leave," she said. "I suppose it gave me a bit of hope — like, 'Oh when you do leave, it doesn't necessarily mean you leave forever.'"

It's great to know that there is a huge chance that Whittaker will return as the Thirteenth Doctor in the future. After all, her predecessor David Tennant had returned for the 50th anniversary and there is little doubt that next year's event will be bigger. Hopefully, we'll be seeing Whittaker and the other Doctors before her in 2023.

Jodie Whittaker returns as the Thirteenth Doctor in the second Doctor Who Special titled Legend of the Sea Devils, which will air soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
