A newcomer to the MCU makes her debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness where she plays a pivotal role in the whole narrative, being the coveted child who has powers unlike any other. Who is America Chavez, anyway? Why is Wanda chasing her? Is she a nexus being?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: Who is America Chavez and What are Her Powers?
America Chavez is a one-of-a-kind teen from the Utopian Parallel who can punch star-shaped portals to travel from one universe to another. However, she has one huge problem: she doesn't know how to use her powers.
She can only portal herself when she senses danger, as if a reflex. She first did it when stung by a bee and her motherd were portaled along with her, possibly lost in some other universe.
She did it again when a monster pursued her and she ended up on Earth 616 with the Doctor Strange we all know. Chavez portals herself everytime she comes across danger and along the way, she tagged Strange with her, even leading him to the Illuminati for punishment of desecrating reality.
In the end, Chavez realized that she knows of her powers all along. Strange made her realize that in the back of her mind, unknowingly, she portals them into universes where they would have what they need.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: Why is Wanda Chasing America Chavez?
Wanda only wants to be with her children, Billy and Tommy, and through the Darkhold, she can access into the consciousness of her other variants living in other realities to be with her children and feel as if they are still there.
Wanda hunts for America Chavez, the only being in existence known to travel the multiverse, and Wanda wants to take her powers to be with her children.
As for fighting Wanda, Chavez portals a place where she hits Wanda without having to physically hurt her -- to Billy and Tommy. After everything, Chavez now trains with the sorcerers at Kamar Taj to get mastery of her powers and learn more about magic.
Is America Chavez a Nexus Being?
A nexus being is a rare individual who can have an effect on the probability of the future which could alter the Universal Time Stream or the future. Nexus beings are crucial to the coherence and stability of time itself.
See, America Chavez is one-of-a-kind because there is no one in the multiverse like she. She knows of it when she confirmed that she never dreams and jumping through various universes, she never saw a variant of herself. This only means that she is the only one in existence.
Being rare is already checked, but does America Chavez affect the Universal Time Stream and the stability of time itself? Well, she could possibly do so when incursions happen. Carefully wielding America's powers would not alter time, but if not used right, she brings in chaos.
America Chavez may possibly be a nexus being in the MCU, even if it has been debunked in the comics. The treatment that the MCU gave her seems to lead to that path where America has no any other variant and she can face Scarlet Witch, a nexus being.
All else, America Chavez is still a kid, her future is still ahead of her.
