Doctor Strange 2: Taron Egerton Addresses Possible Wolverine Role

People have a lot of expectations when it comes to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. After all, the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel will address the multiverse yet again and explore the possibility of seeing new versions of familiar Marvel characters. So could a new Wolverine possibly be one of these characters? Taron Egerton, who is rumored to take over the role originated by Hugh Jackman in the movie, has finally addressed the speculations!

Fans have been hoping that Wolverine will show up in the MCU soon. Not surprisingly, most people believe that the best film for the character's MCU debut would be Doctor Strange 2. In addition to that, there are speculations that the mutant will be played by a new actor like Taron Egerton.

So what are the chances that the Kingsman star will take over the role by Hugh Jackman? Egerton recently spoke to Alex Jones where he was asked if he will play the X-Men character. Interestingly, he was quick to deny the rumors.

"There’s no truth in it at all. There’s no truth in it," Egerton said before adding that he is interested in the role.

"It would be, obviously, really exciting, but I don’t know...That’s like playing Bond. It would be exciting to play a role where you play to by such a huge audience," he stated. "Those movies are the most-watched movies in the world. It’s a great thrill and it’s a great part. But there’s no truth in it. Very flattering, though.”

It's unfortunate that Egerton isn't playing Wolverine in Doctor Strange 2. Or is he? Fans believe that he may have been denying the truth to avoid spoiling the film. Still, we'll have to wait for the movie to come out before we're sure.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, and Rachel McAdams. The film hits theaters on May 6, 2022.
